I applied for a ISSN assignment earlier this week and was denied
the number simply because I applied for the number as a personal blog.

They specifically say that Commercial web sites, personal web pages, web pages which contain only links to other URLs are not eligible for ISSN assignments. But they give no relevant information to as why they do not allow such sites ISSN assignments.

Oh well! No real loss there. With the rise of blogs reaching 55 million its hard to issue an
ISSN assignment to each person that requests one.
