About
Who am I?
My specialization is in web design and I have built many numerous sites over the last thirteen years (Geocities in 1996). By using a very unique style, and a vast array of techniques, I am able to build striking, elegant websites that maximize usability and that are standards compliant.
My current ambitions are to continue my with my education (Scott holds an AAS in Graphic Communications from TMCC) by pursuing a BFA from SCAD.
What is PattersonGrafiks
PattersonGrafiks is the “unofficial” name that is used for any design work I do within the Reno-Tahoe area. I say unofficial because my work is done as hobby and is not a business. Much of my time is spent at IGT (my employer) and with my family. My motto is “Design | Innovate | Communicate”. Now you might ask, “what exactly does that mean“… well that’s a good question. It means that I am passionate about design, that I strive to innovate new creative solutions for my clients and at work, and I communicate actively and appropriately. I am passionate about my design, and I work efficiently with my clients and at work to produce top-notch quality designs that are user-friendly and that will reach their intended target demographics with a user centric design approach.
Is this a weblog?
If you would like to call it that go ahead! You could also think of it as a collection of ideas, thoughts, suggestions and opinions. This site is all about sharing with the world different design concepts, creative inspirations, marketing ideas, success stories, popular culture, and other ideas and or opinions.
Can I post a comment?
Absolutely. I encourage all readers to submit their feedback on what I post. Though I ask each and one of my readers to comment constructively, explaining in detail why you agree or disagree with something I wrote. That way others and myself may benefit from the fruitful exchange.
How come there are some entries to which I cannot post?
Some posts, in particular my personal thoughts, are written to be read and to “record the moment”, sort-to-speak. These posts have commenting turned off. I limit the entries that don’t utilize comments to a smallest amount possible, but there are times, more often during election years, that this occurs.
Do you publish an RSS feed?
You bet! Go ahead and grab the 2.0 RSS feed, and do what you want with it. Drop me a line if you use the RSS data in a creative way, like a desktop application, Flash/Flex/Siverlight application, screensaver, etc.
What typefaces are you using?
As of July 2006, the new PattersonGrafiks branding utilizes the Garamond and Myriad typefaces. My logo uses a more personal Adobe Garamond typeface. The body copy for this site is set to Verdana.
Hey, this site looks funky in my browser!
This site validates as XHTML 1.0 Transitional and uses CSS to render all markup and element positioning, which means you should use a relatively new browser to fully experience the site. Any browser can access the raw text of this site, but if you are using at least Internet Explorer (7 and above), Firefox, Chrome, or Safari, the site will render as intended. Any older browsers like Netscape 4 or Internet Explorer 5 (and sometimes 6) will not render as intended.
