TMCC Art Show… What Happened?

Today as I was walking to class, I decided to check and see if my project, telephones in time, took an award in this years art show. To my surprise, the project won nothing. I really believed in this project, and that it would win and award and take a place. After the 35+ hours that went into it, it was really sad to see such a good piece of work not take a place at an art show. In my honest opinion I believe it had much more potential than the other digital media pieces. This may not be a bad thing though considering the piece that one first; an amateur video cut up in FinalCut Pro… in my opinion wasn’t the greatest. My question is who exactly judged this art show? Every outstanding piece of work in all categories was passed up, in my opinion, by inferior pieces. There were outstanding examples of fine design right in front of his or her face. It seemed like the judges were looking for more shock and awe than anything. Last year I had won first place, but this year I didnt take a place in any category. Many of the artists that won last year, didn’t win this year. These artists had several outstanding pieces, which were overlooked. I dont think that me telling one of the professors that he needed better quality control of his work helped me at all. This art show was pathetic, both in the judging, and the preparations. Last year the art show had three times as many entries the pieces seemed to be judged fairly, and there was good communication. This year it lacked proper communication, and really wasnt prepared properly. Is TMCC’s graphics department falling behind? We’ll see… thank goodness I’m almost finished.
